BonFIRE Virtual Clusters on Federated Cloud experiment evaluates the feasibility of using a federated Cloud to deploy services that need a large amount of CPUs. The experiment has researched the factors that affect the deployment of these clusters, the benefits and barriers to use several Cloud sites and the influence on the executed applications, the possibility of using application performance monitoring to define rules for elasticity and fault-tolerance mechanisms to guarantee the QoS to the final user. Results show that these last issues are feasible.
